CONWAY, AR -- On Saturday afternoon, "Arkanasans
Concerned about Oil Pipelines" held its first meeting at the Faulkner
County library in Conway.
FOX16 News found people not only from
Mayflower but other parts of Central Arkansas, saying they are all
concerned about how life will change because of the spill. They're
also raising issues they plan to take to Exxon leaders and state
leaders.
The neighbors said they want to make sure Exxon does their part in cleaning up. They also want to make sure this never happens again.
"If something is wrong, people need to stand their ground and speak out about it and approach the right authorities with their complaints," said Rocky Kistner, communications associate for the Natural Resources Defense Council.
The group members said they plan to meet again and form committee leaders on specific issues that came out of this first meeting.
