guns constitution 350x250State Rep. Kevin Cooke, R-Carrollton, is among six co-sponsors of a bill introduced Tuesday to nullify any new federal firearms restrictions that would limit types of weapons or magazines or require registration of accessories.

House Bill 732 was authored by Rep. Tom Kirby, R-Loganville. Other co-sponsors included Rep. Delvis, Dutton, R-Glennville; Rep. Trey Kelley, R-Cedartown; Rep. Paulette Braddock, R-Powder Springs; and Rep. David Stover, R-Newnan.

“This bill is intended to prevent enforcement of any unconstitutional act or regulation dealing with the Second Amendment by the federal government on the citizens of Georgia,” Cooke said Friday. “It would also prevent the ban of ownership of semiautomatic firearms to include any arbitrary limits on magazine sizes within the state of Georgia. The Second Amendment is clear. The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

The legislation has gone to the House Judiciary Committee for debate.
